Effective date: October 4, 2026 | Last reviewed: October 4, 2026
1. Citizens Law Library is not a law firm
Citizens Law Library is a legal-information and educational resource intended to help Missouri residents locate public information, understand commonly used legal and court-related terms, organize their own records, and find appropriate sources of qualified legal assistance.
Citizens Law Library is not a law firm. No person associated with Citizens Law Library is acting as your attorney unless a separate written attorney-client agreement has been made directly with a licensed attorney. Citizens Law Library does not offer legal representation or appear in court for any visitor, member, customer, or user.
2. General educational information only
The website, member library, articles, checklists, downloads, videos, directories, worksheets, links, emails, and other materials made available by Citizens Law Library are provided for general educational and informational purposes only.
Legal information is not the same as legal advice. Legal advice requires a qualified professional to evaluate the facts, documents, deadlines, jurisdiction, and circumstances of a particular person or matter. Citizens Law Library does not evaluate your situation or tell you what legal action you should take.
Example
A general checklist explaining how to organize court papers is educational information. Telling a person which document to file, how to respond to a specific claim, what legal argument to make, whether they have a valid case, or what outcome they can expect would be individualized legal advice. Citizens Law Library does not provide individualized legal advice.
3. No attorney-client relationship
Your use of this website does not create an attorney-client relationship or any other professional-client relationship with Citizens Law Library, its owners, administrators, contributors, volunteers, contractors, partners, or affiliates.
An attorney-client relationship cannot be created by visiting the website, creating an account, becoming a member, purchasing or downloading materials, sending a message, subscribing to an email list, participating in a program, or relying on information found on this website.
4. No case review, legal-document review, or personalized forms
Citizens Law Library does not review, interpret, correct, complete, select, prepare, draft, or file legal documents for visitors or members. We do not tell users which form applies to their circumstances, whether a filing is complete, whether an argument is legally sound, or whether a document will be accepted by a court or agency.
Any checklists, worksheets, document logs, timelines, vocabulary guides, educational guides, blank organizational tools, or links to public forms are general materials only. They are not customized for your situation and may not be appropriate, complete, current, or sufficient for any particular legal matter.
5. Court deadlines, emergencies, and urgent matters
Do not rely on this website to calculate deadlines.
Court deadlines, appeal periods, response dates, filing requirements, and procedural rules can vary by court, county, case type, service date, and individual circumstances. You are responsible for confirming all deadlines directly with the court, a licensed attorney, or another authorized professional source.
Seek qualified help immediately if you have a court date, filing deadline, eviction notice, foreclosure concern, order of protection issue, domestic-violence concern, criminal charge, immigration matter, custody emergency, risk of losing housing or benefits, or any situation involving immediate safety or legal consequences.
In an emergency involving immediate danger or a threat to safety, call 911 or your local emergency service. Citizens Law Library cannot provide emergency assistance, legal representation, crisis intervention, or immediate legal advice.
6. Laws, court rules, and public resources can change
Laws, court rules, court forms, filing procedures, fees, local practices, government programs, agency requirements, and legal-aid eligibility standards may change at any time. Information on this website may not reflect the most recent changes or apply in every Missouri county, court, or jurisdiction.
Whenever possible, users should confirm information through official court websites, government agencies, a licensed Missouri attorney, or an authorized legal-aid organization before acting on it.
7. External websites and third-party resources
Citizens Law Library may link to courts, government agencies, legal-aid programs, bar associations, attorneys, nonprofit organizations, libraries, public services, and other third-party websites. These links are provided as a convenience and educational resource.
We do not control, operate, guarantee, endorse, or assume responsibility for the accuracy, security, availability, privacy practices, services, eligibility rules, advice, products, or content of any external website or third party. A link does not mean that Citizens Law Library recommends, approves, or guarantees a provider or service.
8. Member library and paid educational materials
Membership fees or payments for Citizens Law Library materials provide access to general educational content, organizational tools, resource directories, and other non-personalized materials. Payment does not purchase legal advice, legal representation, legal-document preparation, legal-document review, legal strategy, or a guarantee of any legal outcome.
Members remain responsible for determining whether a resource is relevant to their circumstances and for consulting qualified legal counsel when needed. No member material should be treated as a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney.
9. Contact and communication limitations
Do not send Citizens Law Library confidential information, court documents, case facts, legal questions, medical records, Social Security numbers, financial-account information, passwords, or other sensitive personal information through the website, email, social media, contact forms, comments, or any other communication channel.
Citizens Law Library may not respond to communications that seek legal advice or contain individual case facts. Website contact methods are intended only for general website support, membership access, billing questions, technical support, broken-link reports, general feedback, resource suggestions, and partnership inquiries.
10. No guarantees or warranties
Citizens Law Library makes reasonable efforts to provide useful, understandable, and responsibly sourced educational content. However, all website materials are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that information will be accurate, complete, current, suitable for your situation, error-free, uninterrupted, or accepted by a court, agency, attorney, or other third party.
Your use of this website and any action you take based on information obtained through it is at your own risk. You should obtain advice from a licensed attorney or other qualified professional before making decisions that may affect your rights, responsibilities, property, family, finances, benefits, legal claims, or court matter.
11. Acceptance of this notice
By using Citizens Law Library, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this Disclaimer and Not Legal Advice Notice. If you do not agree, do not use the website, member library, downloads, materials, or related services.
This disclaimer should be read together with our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and, where applicable, our Member Agreement.
